Waffle House

Took Evan to Waffle House this morning. We flew to MD for Thanksgiving. Worth the price of the plane tickets. He has been to one before, but this was his first meal there.

See Halloween Pumpkins

The Halloween Pumpkin album has been updated:

Pumpkins done

Harder than ever since I get more easily frustrated right now, we got the pumpkins done with some major compromises. Next year, there may not be any if we cut it any closer. This year's Hello Kitty almost fell apart. She's supposed to be a stormtrooper. There were still plenty of compliments from the trick-or-treaters. Pics to follow shortly.

pumpkins

Actually going to start Halloween pumpkin carving early this year. Too bad I don't even need the extra weekend time (since I'm not working). Today, goals are to get the patterns printed (oh, guess what, we threw away our printer - have to email them to work), pumpkins scooped out and at least one pattern marked. The patterns are uninspired this year but selected nonetheless.

The TV people called...it's coming tomorrow morning!

TV selected

My first assignment is being completed. I settled on a 54" Panasonic plasma TV. If the model I ordered is right, I got a top-of-the-line model for a very reasonable price as little as a lower-rade model at Best Buy. It will ship via Fed Ex Ground on Monday, so I have over a week to wait for it. I'm excited to have a slightly larger screen than before. I have to prepare myself that the picture may still not be as accurate as the SXRD projection, because that was/is superior technology. Plasmas have improved quite a bit since I bought my SXRD 5 years ago, though.

New TV

Not the first assignment that I needed after returning home from the hospital, but I suppose I wasn't given a choice. My hdtv projector bulb shattered while I was in the hospital this week, and I decided it's time to ditch my Sony SXRD technology for something more current. I browsed about 8 months of AV mags yesterday, and I haven't decided if I'm getting a "cheap replacement" or a new top-of-the-line model. My vision isn't really sharp enough to watch TV critically and I think TV technology still has some improving to do. I'm leaning towards a plasma 55"+ to tide us over until a new house and my "real" theater is constructed (which will probably be a projector).

I saw two of my neighbors last night for the first time in 2.5 months, one of whom was beginning chemotherapy just days before I was first hospitalized.

Update

I was under lock down for several weeks, and my relationship with Apple Rehab was terminated. Since then, I struggled to get new rehabilation services lined up. After a few weeks however, I was able to get the treatment that I need, and my test scores indicate that "I am returning to the Mark Quinn of the past." I am starting a new phase of recovery today that will help me return to normal. No timeline set, but I was surprised to find out how difficult walking up a flight of stairs is.

Writing again because I'm alive and self-aware now. As of ~11:00 p.m.

Saturday

Post for today, went well.

Hazy, not dizzy

Seems like this is not a dizzy spell, but perhaps a symptom of being conscious. It is a "hazy" kind of feeling, like it's almost not happening.

Ok. I'm really having a hard time typing. Don't know why. My fingers don't want to do the walking.

Rediscovered

It has been a surreal experience for me these past two days, but I feel I have turned a corner. I realized that I was not behaving the way I was supposed to be. Hopefully that is going to change for the better.

Evan just needs motivation

Jenn is on her first business trip since Evan was born. Two weeks without Evan is too much for anyone to handle, so Quinnology will be updated more regularly so Mommy can watch her son.

Here in the Quinn household, it's become evident that Evan is lazy, and only needs the proper motivation to show what he can do.

Megatron is on the move

Ok, I know, it has been months since the last update. This one was important enough to stay up later and post. Evan is starting to crawl. Fortunately, he needs a lot of incentive, and even then, he stops after a few feet from boredom, I think. He's also able to sit himself up. Sorry for the lack of audio, but there was extraneous talking over the event.

A long time coming

Wow, how time flies. It has been two months since my last update. Everything is becoming more routine, and that routine doesn't find time for blogging, unfortunately. Right now, I'm no doubt neglecting some activity that I should be doing instead. Here are Evan's 3rd and 4th months in pictures. Hope to update with some more videos soon.

Evan's Third Film

It's been awhile since an update, although you may have noticed new photos in the "second month" slideshow. I've come to realize how demanding parenting an infant is on your time. I wake up, go to work, come home, eat, and take Evan until he goes to sleep. By that time, I have an hour at best before I should be in bed. But it's worth it. Here is his most recent video:

Megatron's second film

The first few weeks of parasitic behavior are starting to wane. Evan is showing signs that he is an actual person who will interact with us. This makes the parenting experience 1 million times more rewarding. He only wakes up once at night, usually sleeping from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., and then until 8:30 a.m. That means Daddy gets to sleep all night and not be a zombie at work. I talked to coworkers who are still getting only 3-4 hours with their 7-month old. We are extremely fortunate.

Evan's second month alive

It's amazing how I spend my "free time" these days. When I'm not working, eating, or sleeping, I'm holding Evan or feeding him. It has been difficult finding the time to update this blog, so much so that we barely even think to take pictures, much less upload them. Evan's First Month photo album in the Photo Journal is now working, finally. And here are the next 3 weeks after that:
